Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Pan and Oven
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish or two 8-inch round cake pans.
Step 2: Make the Cake Batter
In a large bowl, combine the strawberry cake mix, milk, oil, eggs, mashed strawberries, and vanilla extract.
Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2–3 minutes, until smooth and creamy.
Step 3: Bake the Cake
Pour the batter into the prepared pan(s). Bake for 28–32 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Step 4: Prepare the Glaze
While the cake is baking, whisk together the powdered sugar, pureed strawberries, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
Step 5: Glaze the Cake
While the cake is still slightly warm, drizzle the glaze generously over the top, allowing it to drip down the sides for a stunning finish.
Let the glaze set for 15–20 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Use Ripe Strawberries
: For the best natural flavor and sweetness.
Don’t Overmix the Batter
: To keep the cake light and fluffy.
Strain the Glaze
: For a smoother texture if desired.
Cool Slightly Before Glazing
: This helps the glaze stick without melting completely.
