Ingredients
  

For the Cake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • ½ cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional Orange Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tablespoons fresh orange juice

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, orange juice, orange zest, milk, and vanilla extract, and mix well.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • If using the glaze, mix the powdered sugar with orange juice until smooth and drizzle over the cooled cake.

Notes

This cake is best served fresh. You can store it in an airtight container for up to three days.
