Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup butter softened, not margarine
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add the softened butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Pour in the milk and vanilla extract, then mix until smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time until fully incorporated.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool before slicing.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a teaspoon of lemon zest to the batter.
