For the Cake

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Fudge Topping

  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 ¼ cups hot water

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until combined.
  • Pour the batter into a baking dish.
  • In a separate bowl, mix granulated sugar, brown sugar, and cocoa powder for the fudge topping.
  • Sprinkle the fudge mixture over the batter, then pour hot water over the top.
  • Bake for 30 minutes.
  • Let it cool slightly before serving.
