Hearty Deep-Dish Pie with Hamburger, Sausage, and Pepperoni

Ingredients
  

For the Crust

  • 2 ready-made pie crusts (for a deep-dish pan)
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter for brushing top crust

For the Filling

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese divided
  • 0.5 pound ground beef
  • 0.5 pound Italian sausage casings removed (optional)
  • 1 cup pepperoni slices divided
  • 1.5 cups pizza sauce or marinara
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or provolone cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place one pie crust in a deep-dish pie pan.
  • In a skillet, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Layer half the mozzarella cheese, cooked meat, half the pepperoni, pizza sauce, cheddar or provolone cheese, and seasonings in the pie crust.
  • Top with the remaining mozzarella and pepperoni. Cover with the second pie crust, sealing the edges.
  • Brush the top crust with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder.
  • Bake for 35 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.

Notes

Let the pie cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with a side salad if desired.
