Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Cut the Italian bread in half lengthwise and place on a baking sheet.
Mix the softened butter and garlic salt in a small bowl. Spread evenly over both halves of the bread.
Bake the bread for 5-7 minutes until lightly toasted. Remove from the oven and set aside.
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and onion until the beef is browned and the onion is soft.
Stir in the garlic powder, mustard, ketchup, salt, pepper, and water. Simmer for 5 minutes.
Spoon the sloppy joe mixture over the toasted bread halves. Top with mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
Return to the oven and bake for 5-7 minutes until the cheese is melted.
Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
For a spicier version, add a dash of hot sauce or red pepper flakes to the sloppy joe mixture.
