Ingredients
  

For the Burger

  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans drained and rinsed
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs plain or seasoned
  • ½ small onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 large egg or 1 tablespoon flaxseed meal + 3 tablespoon water for vegan option
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro chopped (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For Serving

  • Toppings lettuce, tomato, avocado, cheese (as desired)

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl, mash the black beans with a fork until mostly smooth.
  • Add breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, cumin, chili powder, egg, cilantro, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • Form the mixture into four patties.
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for about 5 minutes on each side, until browned.
  • Serve on burger buns with your choice of toppings.

Notes

You can customize your burger with various toppings. Try adding your favorite sauces for extra flavor.
