Easy Turtle Bars

Ingredients
  

For the Crust

  • 1 and ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar packed
  • ½ cup unsalted butter cold and cubed

For the Caramel Pecan Layer

  • 1 cup pecan halves
  • cup butter
  • ½ cup brown sugar packed

For the Chocolate Topping

  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips

Optional Garnishes

  • Extra chopped pecans
  • Sea salt flakes
  • Drizzled caramel sauce

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking pan with parchment paper.
  • Mix the flour and brown sugar for the crust in a bowl. Cut in the cold butter until crumbly.
  • Press the crust mixture evenly into the prepared pan and bake for 10 minutes.
  • In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar for the caramel pecan layer. Stir in the pecans.
  • Spread the caramel pecan mixture over the baked crust and return to the oven for 15 minutes.
  • Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot caramel layer and let them melt. Spread evenly.
  • Cool completely before cutting into bars. Add optional garnishes if desired.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
