Ingredients
  

  • 15.25 ounces butter cake mix
  • 42 ounces apple pie filling 2 cans
  • 8 tablespoons salted butter
  • 1.5 tablespoons lemon juice fresh is best
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon apple pie spice or ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon, ½ teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Spread the apple pie filling evenly in a baking dish.
  • Sprinkle the lemon juice, vanilla extract, and apple pie spice over the apple pie filling.
  • Spread the butter cake mix evenly over the apple pie filling.
  • Dot the top with small pieces of butter.
  • Bake for 30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a richer dessert.
