Ingredients
  

For the Pasta

  • 1 package uncooked penne pasta 16 oz
  • 3 cups marinara sauce about 1 24-ounce jar
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • to taste Ground black pepper

For the Chicken and Cheese

  • 1.5 lbs. raw chicken breast diced into bite-sized pieces
  • 1-2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese or Italian cheese blend
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup Panko breadcrumbs

Optional Garnish

  • Fresh chopped herbs such as basil or parsley

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a baking dish, combine the penne pasta, marinara sauce, water, salt, and black pepper. Stir well.
  • Add the diced chicken on top of the pasta mixture. Do not stir.
  • Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Remove the foil, sprinkle with mozzarella, Parmesan, and Panko breadcrumbs. Bake uncovered for an additional 5-10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.

Notes

You can customize this recipe by adding vegetables or using different types of cheese.
