Ingredients
  

For the Soup Base

  • 1 lb Crab meat Fresh lump crab meat is best.
  • 1 lb Shrimp Peeled and deveined.
  • 3 tablespoon Butter
  • 2 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 1 cup Onion, chopped
  • 1 cup Celery, chopped
  • 1 cup Carrots, chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoon Tomato paste
  • ¼ cup Flour
  • 4 cups Seafood or chicken broth
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 leaf Bay leaf
  • to taste teaspoon Salt
  • to taste teaspoon Pepper

For Garnish

  • ¼ cup Fresh parsley or chives, chopped For garnish.
  • 1 lemon Lemon wedges Optional.

Instructions
 

  • In a large pot, heat butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add onion, celery, and carrots. Sauté until soft.
  • Add garlic and cook for another minute. Stir in tomato paste and flour, cooking for 2 minutes.
  • Slowly add the broth, stirring constantly. Bring to a simmer.
  • Add the shrimp and cook until they turn pink. Then, add the crab meat, heavy cream, Old Bay seasoning, paprika, and bay leaf.
  • Simmer for another 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove the bay leaf before serving.
  • Serve hot, garnished with parsley or chives. Add lemon wedges if desired.

Notes

You can substitute the crab with more shrimp or other seafood if needed.
