Cinnamon Apple Fritter Bread

A sweet and spiced bread with chunks of apple and a cinnamon swirl, topped with an optional glaze.

Ingredients
  

Bread Batter

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ¾ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup milk

Apple Cinnamon Swirl

  • 2 medium apples, peeled and chopped Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well
  • cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Optional Glaze

  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1–2 tablespoon milk

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Combine the flour and baking powder in a separate bowl, then gradually add to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk.
  • Fold in the chopped apples.
  • In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon.
  • Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the batter. Repeat with remaining batter and cinnamon-sugar.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  • For the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled bread if desired.

Notes

Store the bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
