Ingredients
  

For the Cake

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix approx. 15.25 oz
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • 1 cup caramel sauce

For the Ganache

  • ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chunks or chips
  • ½ cup heavy cream

Optional Toppings

  • Chocolate shavings
  • Chopped nuts or toffee bits

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine chocolate cake mix, eggs, whole milk, melted butter, baking powder, and sour cream. Mix until smooth.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish. Drizzle caramel sauce over the top.
  • Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • For the ganache, heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan until it simmers. Remove from heat and add chocolate chunks. Stir until smooth.
  • Once the cake has cooled slightly, pour the ganache over the top. Add optional toppings if desired.

Notes

This cake pairs well with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
