Ingredients
  

For the Filling

  • 1 lb Ground Beef cooked with onions and seasoned with ketchup, mustard, and pickle relish
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese shredded

For the Pretzel Dough

  • 1 ½ cups Warm Water used to activate the yeast
  • 1 packet Active Dry Yeast 2 ¼ tsp
  • ¼ cup Granulated Sugar feeds the yeast
  • 4 cups All-Purpose Flour provides structure for the dough
  • 1 teaspoon Salt enhances flavor
  • ¼ cup Unsalted Butter melted
  • 10 cups Water for baking soda bath
  • cup Baking Soda for the baking soda bath
  • 1 count Egg beaten, for egg wash
  • Coarse Sea Salt

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the warm water, active dry yeast, and granulated sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  • Stir in the melted butter, salt, and flour until a dough forms. Knead until smooth.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  • Cook the ground beef with onions and mix in ketchup, mustard, and pickle relish.
  • Divide the dough into equal pieces, flatten them, and place a spoonful of the beef mixture and cheese in the center. Fold the dough over and seal.
  • Boil water with baking soda. Drop each pretzel bomb into the water for 30 seconds, then place on a baking sheet.
  • Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
  • Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

Serve warm for the best flavor. You can try different fillings based on your preference.
