Ingredients
  

For the Apples

  • 2 cups apples peeled and cut into ½ inch cubes
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg optional, omit if it’s a spice you don’t like

For the Cobbler Mixture

  • 1 and ½ cups self-rising flour read post for substitution
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

For the Sauce

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 and ½ cups hot water

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the apple cubes, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix well and set aside.
  • In another bowl, mix together the self-rising flour, granulated sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Pour the apple mixture into a baking dish, then pour the cobbler mixture over the apples evenly.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the brown sugar with hot water until dissolved. Pour this sauce over the cobbler.
  • Bake for 30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.

Notes

Serve warm with ice cream for an extra treat.
