Ingredients
  

PIE CRUST

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup cold solid shortening such as Crisco
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons ice water

STREUSEL TOPPING

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup old-fashioned oats don’t use quick oats
  • ½ cup light brown sugar lightly packed
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted and cooled

PIE FILLING

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • teaspoon salt
  • 4 large Granny Smith apples
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons half & half

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a bowl, mix flour and salt for the crust. Cut in shortening until crumbly. Gradually add ice water until dough forms.
  • Roll dough into a 9-inch pie dish and crimp edges.
  • For the streusel, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Stir in melted butter until crumbly.
  • For the filling, mix sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt. Toss with sliced apples and lemon juice.
  • Spread filling into the crust. Drizzle with half & half.
  • Sprinkle streusel topping evenly over the apples.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Notes

Let the pie cool for at least 2 hours before slicing for best results.
