Ingredients
  

For the Cake Base

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs

For the Cream Cheese Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

For the Apple Topping

  • 2 cups apples, diced Honeycrisp or Granny Smith recommended
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • teaspoon salt

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, melted butter, and eggs. Mix until smooth and pour into the prepared baking dish.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing well. Spread this mixture over the cake base.
  • In another bowl, mix the diced apples, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt. Spread this apple mixture over the cream cheese layer.
  • Bake for 40 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

This cake is best served warm. You can top it with whipped cream or ice cream if desired.
