Description

A rich, buttery cake with a tender crumb and a sweet glaze.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk, at room temperature
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (for glaze)
  • 1/4 cup water (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan.
  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Set aside.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in vanilla extract.
  6. Alternately add flour mixture and milk, beginning and ending with flour.
  7. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack.
  9. For the glaze, melt butter and water in a saucepan. Drizzle over warm cake.

Notes

  • Use room temperature ingredients for best results.
  • Do not overmix the batter to avoid a dense cake.
  • Let the cake cool slightly before glazing.
