- 8 cups Crispix cereal
- 2 cups pecan halves
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 250°F.
- Spread the Crispix cereal and pecans on a large baking sheet.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
- Stir in brown sugar and corn syrup. Bring to a boil.
- Boil for 2 minutes without stirring.
- Remove from heat and add vanilla and baking soda.
- Pour the mixture over the cereal and pecans, tossing to coat evenly.
- Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.
- Cool completely before breaking into pieces.
Notes
- Store in an airtight container to maintain crunch.
- You can use other nuts like almonds if preferred.
- For a quicker version, microwave the sugar mixture in 30-second intervals instead of stovetop.
