Description

A crispy Japanese-inspired dish featuring breaded chicken or pork served with rice and tonkatsu sauce.


Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or pork chops)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ cup vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • ¼ cup tonkatsu sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tbsp Japanese mayo (optional)
  • Chopped parsley or green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pound chicken or pork to an even thickness.
  2. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Coat each piece in flour, then dip in beaten eggs.
  4. Press into panko breadcrumbs until fully coated.
  5. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  6. Fry the breaded meat until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Drain on paper towels.
  8. Slice and serve over rice.
  9. Drizzle with tonkatsu sauce and Japanese mayo.
  10. Garnish with chopped parsley or green onions.
