Description

Delicious homemade hush puppies made with Jiffy Cornbread Mix for a quick and flavorful snack.


Ingredients

  • 1 box Jiffy Cornbread Mix
  • 1/2 small onion, grated
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Oil, for frying


Instructions

  1. Mix Jiffy Cornbread Mix, grated onion, buttermilk, beaten egg, panko bread crumbs, flour, salt, black pepper, and baking powder in a bowl.
  2. Heat oil in a deep fryer or skillet to 375°F.
  3. Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil.
  4. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  5. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  6. Serve warm.

  • Use a thermometer to maintain oil temperature.
