Description

Delicious Christmas donuts with warm spices and festive icing.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp powdered ginger
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tbsp molasses
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup confectioner's sugar
  • 1 tbsp hot water
  • 2 tsp eggnog
  • 1/4 tsp maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup crumbled gingersnap cookies

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, allspice, cloves, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk brown sugar, egg, molasses, milk, vanilla, and melted butter.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients until smooth.
  5. Fill donut pan cavities 2/3 full.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool donuts on a wire rack.
  8. Mix confectioner's sugar, hot water, eggnog, and maple syrup for icing.
  9. Dip cooled donuts in icing and sprinkle with gingersnap crumbs.

Notes

  • Store leftover donuts in an airtight container.
  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the batter.
